NAVTEX messages are coded by the three fields : station, message type and serial number.
It is possible to restrict NAVTEX message categories and transmitting stations to only those you wish to receive.
Each station in a NAVAREA has its identifying letter. To enter into the programming, press the right arrow button. This brings up the transmitting station selection display. By pressing the right arrow button followed by either up or down arrow, one can select or deselect stations. One click of either button will select, a second click will deselect it or vice versa. Deselected stations are indicated by dash (-). If you are not sure which stations serve your area best, just leave them all selected. You will soon see which stations are relevant to you. Once you have completed your selection, press the left arrow button to bring up the message category selection screen and repeat the above procedure now for message categories. In general, you will wish to leave all message categories active. Message categories are again identified by a single letter : Press the left arrow button to store your NAVTEX station and message category selections. |
